Oscar season is officially off the starting block with nominations announced for the 95th Academy Awards. Three nominations have thrilled India – Naatu Naatu from RRR is up for Best Original Song, All That Breathes has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature and The Elephant Whisperers for Best Documentary Short. These apart, Everything Everywhere All At Once leads the slate with 11 nominations, among them Best Picture, Best Director for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan and two Best Supporting Actress nods for Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu.

All Quiet On The Western Front and The Banshees of Inisherin both have nine nominations each. All Quiet On The Western Front is up for both Best Picture and Best International Feature Film. The Banshees Of Inisherin, unsurprisingly, has nods for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Martin McDonagh, Best Actor for Colin Farrell, Best Supporting Actress for Kerry Condon, and two Best Supporting Actor nominations for Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan.

Elvis and The Fablemans follow with eight and seven nominations each. Tar and Top Gun: Maverick both have six.

India’s official Oscar entry Last Picture Show was overlooked for Best International Feature Film after having made it to the shortlist.

The nominations for the 95th Academy Awards were announced by actors Riz Ahmed and Alison Williams. The Oscar award ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on March 12 with Jimmy Kimmel hosting for the third time.
